Adventure with Half Marathon #22

Before the Overlake Labor Day Half Marathon – Before the heat!

Each half marathon is different. The people, the course, the water stops, the porta-potties, the weather – ahh, yes, the weather. This race morning the abnormal blue skies came with all the trimmings, notably the heat brought by the sun in that blue sky. So this race was about managing that heat.

And I did manage, although when I started pouring water over my head I shorted out my Apple Shuffle and my music was gone. But my friend Erna had decided to do the race with me and she kept me occupied. I do not underestimate the power of having friends with you on these journeys!

The course started and ended in Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA, and wound through the Burke-Gilman trail. It was lovely though mostly shade-less. The medal is pretty cool.

My next half marathon is Race for a Soldier on September 29 in Gig Harbor, WA. It will be another unique race in my quest to become a Saturn member of the Half Fanatics.

I had a professional work picture taken last week. The power of Photoshop made even my wrinkles look good. I hope that as I try to keep everything working 13.1 miles at a time, my aging will be as easy as using Photoshop!
